I speak unto you this day and I say that I have given as a lesson, in believing in what I the Living God have declared above all, of the suffering which can befall those whom I choose, before the time of joy comes. In the life of Joseph there was joy in the beginning because he was the first born of his father’s old age and he was much loved by his father. His father, because he loved him more than his other sons, gave him a coat of many colors and favored him continually. . . .

JOSEPH'S JOY

I speak unto you this day and I say that I have given as a lesson, in believing in what I the Living God have declared above all, of the suffering which can befall those whom I choose, before the time of joy comes. In the life of Joseph there was joy in the beginning because he was the first born of his father’s old age and he was much loved by his father. His father, because he loved him more than his other sons, gave him a coat of many colors and favored him continually.

Because of this, his brothers were jealous and angry with Joseph and wished him evil and not good. During this time Joseph had a dream wherein he would save the lives of his brothers and literally keep them and their father in a time of great distress. Joseph told the dream to his brothers and they hated him all the more. He likewise told his dream to his father and his father basically told him to not be proud.

Then as it happened his brothers plotted to do him evil and therefore they threw him into a pit from which there was no way out. They took counsel together and decided they would not kill him but simply get rid of him by telling foreign traders of his whereabouts and they in turn could extract him and sell him to the Egyptians as a slave.

So, Joseph was taken to Egypt and I blessed him there, and all that he did prospered, and so he was given a place of honor in the Pharaoh’s house. However, the wife of the Pharaoh was full of adultery in her heart and attempted to seduce Joseph. He refused and fled from her presence, leaving behind his outer garment which she had grabbed hold of in an attempt to get him to come into her. Then she in anger lied and said that he had attempted to rape her and she had yelled and he fled.

When this lie was told, he was falsely imprisoned and lost all favor he had, yet when he was in the prison, I gave him favor there. As time progressed, he gave interpretation of the dreams of the butler and the baker, who also ended up in the jail. The butler was to be re-instated and the baker would lose his head and die at the command of the Pharaoh. Then as these things came to pass, the butler was to remember Joseph and make mention of him, yet he did not. The baker was beheaded and died.

Joseph spent more time in incarceration and could not do anything to free himself from the captivity he was bound in. Then as it happened the Pharaoh had two dreams which he needed the interpretation for, it was then that Joseph was brought forth and he had the interpretation to the dreams because I gave it to him. Therefore favor was bestowed upon him once again and he was the man in charge from then on, second to the Pharaoh, and was to secure the grain in the seven fat years in preparation for the seven years of famine which were to follow.

All that he did was blessed by Me and he was given a wife in Egypt and he bore two sons by her whom he named Ephraim and Manasseh. As his life progressed, he did wisely, for My hand of guidance was upon him and he stored up for the famine which was to inevitably come not only upon Egypt but upon the land of his fathers which was Canaan. Little did his brothers who had done him great evil and broken his father’s heart by their lies know, that I would turn their evil for good through the hands of Joseph.

When the famine hit, the stores which people had were scant, as they had not prepared themselves for what was coming. Soon the only place where there was grain stored up was Egypt. It came to the point that My people in Canaan were affected by the famine and I put it upon them to seek grain in Egypt. This they did, and as they went to Egypt, that Joseph saw them and recognized them as his brothers.

Inasmuch as he was of a kind and forgiving nature and knew great blessings at My hand, he asked them many questions before he would sell them grain. When it was made evident to him that his father was still alive and that his younger brother was likewise living, he made them promise to return with their younger brother before they would be sold grain. This they did because their families were in Canaan and extremely needy of provision. Desperate to return to their father, they promised Joseph, not suspecting that he was their brother. As time progressed, and they returned to their father, he was glad for the grain but sorely grieved over losing his second son to return with them. Finally he agreed and they left with Benjamin the youngest son. In the meantime they had found that all of the monies they had given for the grain was found returned in their sacks. Not knowing why, they went back with the younger brother, taking with them the returned monies and more to buy more grain. As these dealings progressed and Joseph finally revealed himself to them, he wept for joy. He saw indeed the dream he had dreamed as a young man was now being fulfilled and he wanted to see his father. The Pharaoh provided them with wagons to go back and secure their relatives and the father and return to Egypt where they were given an abundant land for themselves and their flocks. When Joseph saw his aged father, his joy was his reward. He felt the love for his father and his father was likewise overjoyed to see his beloved son alive, as both were in blessed joy to be safely together.
